All Ohio high schools must comply with the Ohio High School Athletic Association guidelines for athletics. These include:
A student must not be 19 years old before August 1.
In the previous grading period a student must have passed a minimum of 2.5 credits or equivalent which count toward graduation and earned a minimum G.P.A. of 1.0.
Summer school courses and grades do not apply to this requirement.
A student is eligible for eight semesters of athletic participation from his/her enrollment date in grade 9.
A student may only attend the school where the legal guardian resides.
Ross High School has included the additional standard that during the season a student may not be failing more than one subject on a weekly basis and must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 1.0. If a student is failing more than one subject he/she is ineligible until the following week when grades will be checked again. Ineligibility for three weeks during a season would result in removal from the team. Our additional requirement was added to ensure academic progress during the season and to prevent a failing student playing until the quarter ends. Should you have any questions, please contact the athletic director, Micky Geier.
