IMG_1983

On Thursday, November 2nd, athletes in the Girls on the Run (GOTR) program at Elda Elementary traveled to RHS to complete a practice 5k run in preparation for the GOTR 5k race in downtown Cincinnati on November 18 at 10:00 am.

RHS Cross Country runners joined in support of the group’s effort and encouraged the girls as they completed their preparation.

Laura Counts, 3rd grade teacher and director of the Elda chapter of Girls on the Run, re-established the activity this fall after a hiatus and worked to implement the GOTR mission to “inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.”

Other Elda staff, including Jill Martin, Kelly Heis, Mary Virgi, Elizabeth Wagner, and Lisa Asher joined in the effort to make the experience meaningful for these student-athletes.  About the coaching staff, Counts says, “my coaches have been AMAZING! They are all so caring and encouraging.”
